Halle Berry, Twilight star Taylor Lautner and Glee's Chris Colfer were all victims of the ceremony's infamous slime. Lautner went on to win the 'Favourite Buttkicker' award.

Justin Bieber was also gunged [slimed] as he collected his award for 'Favourite Male Singer' at the end of the show, with Smith being covered in the green stuff as he stood nearby.

First Lady Michelle Obama made her Kids' Choice Awards debut, presenting Grammy Award-winning singer Taylor Swift with the 'Big Help' Award in recognition of her charitable work, which includes helping tornado and flood survivors in the United States.

Katy Perry, who won 'Favourite Voice From An Animated Movie' for The Smurfs, sang her latest hit 'Part of Me', flying down to the stage for a medieval-themed performance.

Meanwhile One Direction, who are enjoying record-breaking success in the States, took to the stage to sing their track 'What Makes You Beautiful'.

Over 220 million votes were cast in total for the 20 categories at the Kids' Choice Awards. Fans were able to vote for their favourite nominees on Twitter for the first time ever by using custom hash tags.
